ANTZ: Global Shift

ANTZ Chief Executive and Founder Jen Gillies Pemberton welcomes new Impact for Investing Report and says "businesses across the UK need to start doing business differently now".

Greater Manchester based ANTZ has welcomed a new report from The UK National Advisory Board for Impact Investing (UK NAB). ANTZ brings organisations together to create inclusive growth for all, while at the same time increasing charitable impact and enabling businesses to deliver social value.

The UK NAB report "The Rise of Impact: Five Steps Towards an Inclusive and Sustainable Economy", is aimed at business leaders, investors and Government. It identifies five areas where action is required to build an inclusive economy that accelerates the rise of purposeful business and enables more people and places to benefit from economic success. This includes in the realm of social value, where UK NAB recommends the Government puts much more emphasis on social procurement. This is an approach being championed by GMCA and many Local Authorities across the UK, and ANTZ’s Jen Gillies Pemberton says it is a trend that is only going to increase in businesses both in the UK and globally, with forward thinking businesses surging ahead of the curve...click here for the full article.

Social Value procurement is about to come of age, argues ANTZ Group’s Founder and CEO Jen Gillies Pemberton, and the recent collapse of Carillion is only going to speed up a trend that is already happening across business!

If ever there was an illustration of why a different way of doing and procuring business is needed it is the recent collapse of Carillion.

The high profile failure has shown a need for alternative ways of doing business – one that is not just focused on simple profit measures but one which benefits people and communities too.

The Social Value Act asks commissioners to think about how providers will benefit the communities where they work. In Greater Manchester the GMCA Social Value Policy sets out a framework that is being used to guide the awarding of all tenders and not just ones that are so large as to fall within EU thresholds. The collapse of Carillion is only going to strengthen that trend.

So, if your company hasn’t already got a CSR policy and it’s on your 2018 to-do list – my recommendation is simple: don’t bother. The world has moved on; and embracing social value is a better way for businesses and charities to work together for greater impact...click here for the full article.

Jonathan Rose, MD Tier 1

ANTZ Ambassador: Jonathan Rose, Managing Director Tier 1 ANTZ Member Tier 1

My journey with ANTZ began by total chance; a real 'Sliding Doors' moment when one of my sales guys met Jen Gillies Pemberton (ANTZ Founder & CEO) at Dabs in Bolton. We were providing IT disposal services to Dabs clients and Jen was just starting off on her ANTZ journey and we arranged to have a chat. At the time Tier 1 was a typical SME organisation trying to do business the right way. We had always been aware of our corporate responsibility and the impact we had on our local environment, but at this stage I would describe our commitment as "commodity CSR"; we did the right thing but it was pretty functional stuff...click here for the full article: ANTZ Ambassador Jonathan Rose.
