On Wednesday 19th July, 2017, the Guinness World Record books were updated on the open waters out of Torquay Harbour, by a man who was born blind.
Despite his disability, this man had never let go of a dream to be a racing driver, and having achieved 8 World Records on land, sea and sky already, this man now wanted achieve the 'impossible' dream of piloting a powerboat at 100mph.
That man is 'Superhuman' Mike Newman.
Supported by friends, family and ambassadors for his own charity, Speed Of Sight, Mike raced all the way into the record books at a breathtaking 105 mph.
These World Records act as a beacon of light for anyone regardless of ability, that you should chase your dreams - through land, sea or sky!
Mike Newman co-founded the charity, Speed Of Sight, which in his own image, provides life enhancing driving experiences for any blind or otherwise disabled participants across the UK. A popular 'predict the mph' sweepstake organised by the charity helped to kick start the fundraising proceedings on what ended up being a fast paced, emotional and record breaking day for Mike and the Speed Of Sight charity.

"Antz has been integral to the growth and development of Speed Of Sight. The charity would struggle even more without their continued support with providing office space and introductions to new sponsors and / or supporters."
